About the KC Girlfriends Book Club Literary RetreatThe KC Girlfriends Book Club Literary Retreat is an annual event that began in 2008. During our first year, we hosted a themed literary reteat in a hotel suite with all of our members, along with author Reginald Lee Hameth, author of Pink Shorts. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves during our first literary retreat, so much so, that we decided to open up our literary retreat to the public in order to network with local and nearby book clubs, authors and avid readers. The KC Girlfriends Book Club Literary Retreat is not just about the participants sitting and listening to authors. The literary retreat is also meant to educate all of the participants from the avid readers and book clubs to the aspiring authors to the established authors.
Networking and information gathering are very important keys to the success of all things and the KC Girlfriends Book Club is honored to be the only book club in Kansas City area to consistantly offer such a a gathering where the Kansas City literary community has an opportunity to come together in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. So be sure to join us every 2nd Saturday in June as we host a great networking event with not only a bestselling author but also featured local authors where we believe, Great Company! Great Food! Great Discussions! make a Great Event! Don't miss out on this opportunity! Here's what you have to look forward to attending the KC Girlfriends Book Club Literary Retreat: ~ Avid Readers can potentially find a book club home with the many book clubs that are present or be inspired to start their own book club. ~Book Clubs can learn more about one another, begin networking, and supporting one another. ~ Aspiring Authors Learn some great tips from our guest speakers on various writing and publishing subjects. Get your questions answered in a comfortable environment. Network with book clubs and avid readers. ~Authors Network with local readers and book clubs and secure hosted book club meetings, along with networking with other local authors. This year you'll be able to have more time with the authors in breakout sessions and talk to them on various topics. The authors this year run various literary businesses and can talk about a variety of topics. We'll also listen to each author speak on a panel discussion about their books and writing careers. An itinerary will be emailed out to all our guests prior to the event.
All authors will have books available for purchase so be prepared to purchase some great books! Each ticket purchase includes food, beverages and dessert. We will give out literary giftbags while supplies last. So arrive on time before you miss out! |

Vonda Howard is a mom of 2, wife of 14 years, graphic designer, author and a dreamer. S make it a point to only do things that I am passionate about and only deal with positive people.
Vonda's first self-published novel named “Diamond Lives, Platinum Lies” in 2007, which has received shining reviews. Her second book, “It’s Always the Pretty Ones” was released in 2008 and has received glowing reviews as well. In June 2009, her dream came true when she signed on to Anexander Books.
