| Hello Authors, KC Girlfriends Book Club would like to thank you for visiting our website. We are honored that you want to submit your book to us. The KC Girlfriends Book Club believe in honoring new authors by supporting their books. Book Submissions Here's what we need if you are interested in submitting your book for a review and/or consideration for one of our books of the month: The best way to get your book reviewed by our book club is to send us a complimentary book. Our book club read fiction novels written by African American authors. The genres we read as a group are Christian fiction, mystery, romance, memoirs and some urban lit . As a group, we do not read non-fiction, self help books or street lit. Most if not all of our members do read different genres outside of our book club selected books. We will not purchase the book just to review it. We would prefer that the book is not a galley copy. We need to see the finished product. It's very important that we know that there's not too many grammatical errors or other issues. We will not assume that obvious errors will be corrected. (that's the downside when you ask avid readers to review books lol) Please fill out the book submission contact form below. You will receive an auto-response email that will give you the book club mailing address. Please be sure you type in your email address correctly. If you do not have a complimentary book available you can still submit your book for consideration for one of our books of the month. (Unfortunately, we have chosen all of our Book of the Month selections for 2007) We would prefer that you send a synopsis. Excerpts will not be accepted without a synopsis. Book Reviews Please read carefully about our review process prior to submitting your book Some books will have priority over others that are submitted. These books will receive an automatic review no matter what by TaNisha Webb, President of the KC Girlfriends Book Club: 1. KC Girlfriends Book Club Book of the Month Selections 2. D.I.V.A.S. in Training! Book Club Book of the Month Selections 3. Authors appearing on the KC Girlfriends Book Club Radio Show KC Girlfriends Book Club Book of the Month Selections Book of the Month selections are chosen by members of the KC Girlfriends Book Club only. Authors can still submit their books to be chosen as the book of the month but know that this particular book is solely chosen by the members and not by the author's request. Books that are chosen as our book of the month selection will automatically have a review placed on Amazon.com or another website that the author chooses. Reviews will be posted no later than by the end of the month that the book is to be read by our book club. The books chosen will also be featured on the KC Girlfriends Book Club Radio Show on the third Monday of each month. All authors will be contacted to appear on the show. The radio show book discussion will take place with or without the author's participation. The radio book discussion is designed to be aired on a specific day each month so we cannot move the date or time. We also encourage our listening audience to read our selected books of the month and join in on our conversation! D.I.V.A.S. in Training! Book Club Book of the Month Selections Authors chosen for this book club are not guaranteed a radio show appearance but will receive a review. Authors Appearing on the KC Girlfriends Book Club Radio Show Authors appearing on the radio show will receive a review around the time of their appearance. All books are read in the order of appearance so if you are place on the radio show schedule please do not expect a review earlier than the month of your appearance. Book review process if your book doesn't fall under one of these categories Because of the high volume of books that we're beginning to receive we cannot guarantee if and when we are able to publish a review. We are in the process of developing are book review committee where members of the book club will begin reviewing books. We will be in contact with you when we are able to read your book and place the review. . Book review scores will be based on these standards: Title/Cover/Synopsis All need to be relative to the book. Character Development Characters need to be well developed, believable and/or easy to relate to. Storyline Your storyline should be believable and relative to the synopsis offered. The book should offer a smooth transition between the characters and different scenes. Most of all, your story should make sense. Editing Process Limited grammatical errors would be appreciated. Context in which words are being used will be taken notice of. How well the story is developed and transitions will also be considered. Book reviews that earn less than 3 stars on a 5 star scale will not be placed on any website. TaNisha Webb will personally email the author to give feedback on their book. If another member of the KC Girlfriends Book Club reviews your book and could not finish the book, they will return the book to TaNisha Webb for a second read. We would ask that if you are submitting your book please be sure that your book fall in line with these guidelines. If we contact you about your book because of a rating less than 3 please know that we are trying to help and support your work and not hurt you professionally by giving a bad review. KC Girlfriends Book Club Radio Show Appearances The KC Girlfriends Book Club Radio Show platform is to help support fiction novels written by African American Authors, particularly new authors. All authors interested in appearing on the radio show must submit a book. No author will appear on the show without the radio show host reading their book. All appearances will be confirmed after the author's book as been read. Types of books accepted for consideration for the radio show are based on what type of books the book club read. It is my (TaNisha Webb) hope to help improve the literary world by supporting new or underexposed authors with well-written books to our listening audience. Please look at promoting your book through our radio show for as little as $7 per month. For more details click here. KC Girlfriends Book Club Appearances If you are interested in discussing your book with the KC Girlfriends Book Club our meetings are held on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 4pm. Your book must be chosen as the Book of the Month Selection. Please email us and we can discuss a possible appearance with our book club. We cannot move our meeting date or time to accommodate authors due to other commitments that my members and I have. It is our policy to give members at least 30 days or more to purchase and read a visiting author's book. We wish each one of you much success in your journey to becoming a great author! | This is what your book must have in order to be considered for the radio show: |
- Distribution via
major online book
stores. Also need to
be in stock and not
out of print.
- Submit the most
recent book written
- Must be
appropriately priced
versus other similar
books
- Published within the
last two years.
- Authors must be
African American
and book must be
one of the following
genres:
Contemporary, Sci-
Fi, Romance,
Memoir, Mystery,
Christian Fiction.
Consideration will be
on a book by book
basis for some urban
lit. Please email me if
you have questions
about your book.
- Book must have a
clean title (no
offensive words-
even in the subtitle)
- Must have good
editing.
- Story need to make
sense and be
appealing to an
audience.
- Title, Cover, and
Synopsis must be
relative to the
storyline.
- Please include a
synopsis in the
contact form instead
of referring me to
your website. I need
it available in order
to consider your
book right away.
There are too many
book submissions to
