Just a little bit about us: The KC Girlfriends Book Club was established in 2002 in the Kansas City Metro area. The Metro includes not only the residents who reside in the cities of Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO but the surrounding suburbs. Yes we are literally divided by a river and a street called State Line Rd! The KC Girlfriends Book Club is the proud recipient of the 2008 & 2010 National Book Club Conference Community Service Award and have been featured in numerous online articles, blogs and literary resource websites. We are honored to serve the literary community in the KC Metro and also to be an important contributor within the literary world.
In February 2007, KC Girlfriends Book Club president TaNisha Webb launched the KC Girlfriends Book Club Radio Show, where the primary focus for the radio show is to feature new and underexposed authors. The KC Girlfriends Book Club read about 90% new and underexposed authors as BOTM selections. The KC Girlfriends Book Club host an annual networking literary event in June called the KC Girlfriends Book Club Literary Retreat. We bring in a national bestselling author , along with a few new authors and invite local sister book clubs, avid readers, along with aspiring and established authors from the community together so that we're familiar with one another. We feel that coordinating the literary retreat is a great opportunity to help build the Kansas City literary community! After three years of planning, in 2010, KC Girlfriends Book Club president TaNisha Webb decided to establish the 1st Annual Fall Into Books Literary Conference in the Kansas City Metro area. The 2010 FIBLC will feature Eric Jerome Dickey, Victoria Christopher Murray, ReShonda Tate Billingsley, J.D. Mason, Lyah Beth LeFlore, Vincent Alexandria, Jihad, Clarence Nero just to name a few. Fall Into Books Literary Conference is the first of its kind in the Midwest region and was created to bridge the gap between book clubs, avid readers and authors within this region, which is basically an untouched literary market. TaNisha Webb and book club member Barbara Anne Washington are the coordinators for the event. The KC Girlfriends Book Club is one of many proud sponsors for Fall Into Books Literary Conference. |
